Here is another review from a student that I have seen grow, change, and transform in awe-inspiring ways since taking the class last year. I got a chance to ask him a few questions about his experience of Energy Body Mastery.
We are speaking with Siddiq Maginn, who is an actor, film editor, video game expert, and really just a jack-of-all-trades creator!
Interview
Question 1:
In Energy Body Mastery, we learn about Dynamic Balance, which can be described as an energetic balance of yin/yang (earth/sky) energies that flow inside and around our energy bodies. When we are in Dynamic Balance, our body’s systems and processes operate as they should.
In your experience of learning these practices in EBM, how has an increased sense of Dynamic Balance impacted your physical, mental, emotional, and/or spiritual health on a day-to-day basis? Give some specific examples.
“Before I learned about Dynamic Balance, I always felt tired throughout certain parts of the day or didn’t have the energy to focus on personal hobbies or passions after working long days. Also, my anxieties were through the roof.
After learning Dynamic Balance though, I have a sense of my energy and I am now able to curate how much energy I need throughout the day. Even when I work 8 hours a day on a physically demanding job, my body might feel tired, but I now have the emotional and mental energy to carry on to keep growing my passions creatively and spiritually.
Example: A few weeks ago, I worked a full time 40 hour week but still came home, took care of cleaning and sat down to rest and started my video game stream on twitch right up. An example of spiritual health: instead of coming home after work to sit down and turn on the TV, I came home to sit down and read a book on Shadow Transformation. All and all, I just feel like I also got better at using my energy on better habits that help me become a full version of who Siddiq is!”
Question 2:
Mastery of one’s energy body lends itself to full mastery of oneself. In Energy Body Mastery, we are given a specific set of practices that, when used to their full potential, allow one to become a ‘Master of the Self.’
How has your sense of self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-clarity improved since taking EBM? How has this improved self-concept positively impacted your life? Give some examples.
“As stated above, some of my anxieties were of self worth and self-confidence. I was always worrying about what others thought of me and literally bent over backwards for others thinking they would do the same for me when it was their turn. When that didn't go the way I thought it should, I would think that whatever I did was never enough.
Once I started to do these practices on a daily basis, I felt a new burst of self-confidence and self-worth. I was able to navigate hard conversations that used to make me have panic attacks. I was able to set my boundaries without worrying about the repercussions of what others would think. My worry with setting boundaries was always: “Siddiq is a dick now,” or “Siddiq changed, let’s not hang with him anymore.”
Well I have changed and for the better! I am no longer living in fear of old stories I used to tell myself about being abandoned for just being me, or just living my own life!
I now have my self-confidence and my boundaries. I know now that I can’t make people like me or respect me. I just need to be me and the rest will fall into place, even if some of my friends do come and go. At the end of the day, I am no longer bound by anxieties that make make me feel like it’s all my fault, and I no longer need everyone that I meet to like me in order to feel good about myself!”
Question 3:
Energy Body Mastery is a set of teachings that come out of a specific shamanic cosmology. While no shamanic knowledge or experience is necessary to get the full benefit from these teachings, it is still beneficial to understand that one of the primary processes of shamanism is to cultivate, heal, and become intimate with the human heart.
What has Energy Body Mastery taught you about the nature of your own heart and how to care for it? Do you feel that your sense of self-care or love for life has changed since taking EBM? Give some examples.
“When I first started EBM, I was driving for Uber. There were days I was rushing out the door so I could get out and make money as fast as I could. During these days, whenever I would get lunch, I would eat my lunch and then start doing the Dynamic Balance practices at parks, just so I could be surrounded by the greenery of nature.
One day, doing this practice underneath a huge shady tree, something in me was telling me to turn around to give thanks to the tree for providing a nice cool shady spot in the heat of summer. So I did, and suddenly a breeze game through the trees! You can call it a coincidence or whatever, but to this day I believe the breeze was helping the tree to wave, “you’re welcome.”
Right then I started to open my mind and began talking to plants and trees more. This beautiful nature is alive and I feel like we need to show some more gratitude to these beings for working with us to keep us alive!
When it came to self-care, I started to notice that I was listening to my body more. Taking in food with higher nutritional value, and giving myself the time to cook in the mornings instead rushing right out the door. Whether it be nutrition or just standing up to stretch and move around when we are having our lazy days for our mental health, I believe now when we are grounded and listen to our bodies’ needs, that is the best self-care we can give ourselves.”
Question 4:
Energy Body Mastery teaches us how to tune into the parts of ourselves that may feel uncomfortable. In tuning into the uncomfortable places, we learn two skills. The first skill is how to be comfortable in discomfort, increasing our general tolerance for life’s experiences. The second skill is learning to work with the discomfort to shift energy and increase our overall level of wellness and comfort.
How has taking EBM increased your tolerance for discomfort? How has that impacted your life? How has EBM increased your overall comfort level in yourself, your body, your emotions, and your life? Give some examples.
“Before EBM, wherever I felt discomfort, I would do or use anything to distract myself from the discomfort. Whether that meant spontaneously buying a new thing I thought I “needed,” or binging a TV show or playing video games for hours on end (which is now my part time job!)
I would do anything to not fully feel or process my emotions, because I held a belief that these uncomfortable emotions or situations were “bad”! Once I started doing the practices, it was easier for me to sit in the discomfort and ask myself why I feel this way about a certain situation.
Then, it transformed to “I feel sad because I can’t control or keep everything the same, but that’s ok! I’m going to be sad about this for however long I need to be and let go!”
EBM has given me the tools to show up for the anxieties I have and then just let go of them way more easily. I am also able to face the harder parts of my past and to let the emotions I need to process flow and release. I am not allowing these certain traumas or stories I picked up when I was younger to influence how I survive and act in the present time, but I am not discrediting that they happened in the first place. I am more comfortable with who I am now. The whole me, not just the “good parts”. EBM was a great boost to prepare me for the work I still need to do on myself!”
Question 5:
What advice would you give to people that are considering taking Energy Body Mastery for the first time?
The advice I would give anyone is to come in with an open mind and an open heart! Don’t worry about “knowing it all the first class”. Just love and be patient with yourself and EBM will take care of the rest!
